The Melancholy of Haruhi SuzumiyaThe Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00 (2006) Airs on 2006-04-03 S1 - E1 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Stephen Klancher: January 7, 2011 I can't believe this was broadcast first. It makes no sense to watch this episode, which is actually their movie, until they've actually filmed it which happens at the end of the second season. Kyon's narration actually made it pretty funny at least. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya I (2006) Airs on 2006-04-09 S1 - E2 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Stephen Klancher: December 14, 2010 Cute silly fun. If I watch more of this, I'll watch in the proposed chronological order, rather than broadcast or whatever other episode orders exist. Stephen Klancher: January 4, 2011 Endless Eight... eight episodes of almost the same content. Sort of like Groundhog's day, but with less changes because the characters (mostly) don't have memory of the previous iteration of the loop. I can't believe they actually did completely different voice acting and animation for each episode. It wasn't terrible, but they could have made it more interesting in fewer episodes. I quick skipped through a majority of the repetition, mostly just letting it play for Nagato's scenes, or if I noticed something different. Mostly... this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiSg02Ll20s Suzumiya Haruhi no Tameiki II (2009) Airs on 2009-08-21 S2 - E11 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Suzumiya Haruhi no Tameiki III (2009) Airs on 2009-08-28 S2 - E12 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Stephen Klancher: January 7, 2011 It was getting a bit boring, but then Haruhi willed lasers to shoot from Mikuru's eyes. More of that kinda of thing please. Suzumiya Haruhi no Tameiki IV (2009) Airs on 2009-09-04 S2 - E13 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Stephen Klancher: January 7, 2011 They rushed a lot of stuff in this. Talking cat was amusing, especially its musings on the nature of language. The blew by a lot of other reality bending that could have been given some more time. Then they introduced the whole idea of doubting the motives of each of the special three regarding what they've told Kyon. They could probably do interesting things with that, but not all in one episode. I've heard there is supposed to be a movie though, so perhaps that is a lead up to what will happen then.
