Star Trek: The Next GenerationStephen Klancher ...has seen 176 ...has seen 2.9 hours ...has not seen 0 hours Timeline Most Recent: All Good Things... First Unseen: All Good Things... (2) (# 177) Stephen Klancher: September 17, 2008 What a bad episode to jump to after just finishing the end of TOS. (I had already watched all of the episodes in TNG season 1.) I literally grew up watching TNG so I really like the show and the cast, but this episode was slow and not too interesting. At the moment it is rated the 5 lowest episode in the series so I guess that makes sense. And I have a lot of better ones to look forward to. Stephen Klancher: May 16, 2011 Data wants to learn humor at maximum speed! Actually a decent episode considering the impression I have of season 2 overall. And Data's yearning to learn humor, an element I enjoy, goes through the series and into the movies when he finally gets the emotion chip left behind by his maker. Stephen Klancher: May 16, 2011 "Women aren't people... they're women." Dr Graves, Data's "grandfather" is cool, but I can't wait to see Dr Soong again, Data's "father". One of more episodes than you would suspect, where Brent Spiner gets to show more range than you would expect of an android character. Stephen Klancher: May 22, 2011 On a Very Special Star Trek TNG, Wesley learns that you should be nice to a girl even if she is a shape-shifting monster. Stephen Klancher: May 22, 2011 Revolving door in the middle of nothingness was a pretty funny image. Stephen Klancher: May 25, 2011 Wesley's command and Data pushing to break the prime directive for emotional reasons. A very "season 2" episode. Stephen Klancher: May 26, 2011 Great episode. Q and the Borg: very fun character and villains spanning even beyond this whole series and into the others. Stephen Klancher: August 21, 2011 Cheesy Troi romance, but a lot of little amusing things about this episode. Stephen Klancher: August 21, 2011 That was a pretty solid episode. It's good to have Klingon allies. Stephen Klancher: August 23, 2011 James Cromwell! That has to be the coolest chase I've seen in Star Trek. Especially breaking the beam mid-transport. Stephen Klancher: August 24, 2011 Enterprise vs terrorists with super-awesome teleporters. Everyone gave their best "oh shit" faces when Picard got taken. The villain was pretty good. Stephen Klancher: September 3, 2011 Damn emotional Vulcans. I watched this and others on my phone, while driving to San Diego... Stephen Klancher: September 6, 2011 Fantastic episode. I love the extra depth of Wolf-359 in the Star Trek: Borg game. Stephen Klancher: September 13, 2011 Bummer, K'Ehleyr was pretty cool (definitely had to look up that spelling). I had forgotten about Alexander completely. At the end they kind of quickly brushed over the fact that they decided the future of the Klingon empire. Also got to see Worf do some bat'leth fighting. Stephen Klancher: September 14, 2011 Ah, not only time travel, but double fake reality... Always fun to see Riker get mad. Stephen Klancher: September 14, 2011 Decent Wesley/Picard episode. I honestly can't remember... is he actually gone after this? Or gone for a season or something? I guess I'll find out. Stephen Klancher: September 18, 2011 Always good to have an android to take over if the crew goes nuts. Stephen Klancher: September 20, 2011 Hilarious seeing the crew as the cast of Robin Hood. Especially Worf: "I am NOT a merry man!" Stephen Klancher: September 21, 2011 Good episode... reminds me of the early BSG episode where Adama ordered and eventually shut down the independent tribunal. Stephen Klancher: September 23, 2011 Very entertaining Data episode as he tries a relationship... also it makes no sense that Picard piloted that shuttle. Stephen Klancher: September 24, 2011 Good times with the Klingon Empire... and Worf finally restoring his family honor. Always fun to see Picard shout in Klingon. Stephen Klancher: September 24, 2011 I totally love this episode. First year of college it was even shown in an anthropology class when the professor wasn't able to make it. Also, this is amazing: http://i.imgur.com/oMvXG.jpg Stephen Klancher: September 25, 2011 Picard and Riker getting unwanted tactical advice from the barber... Salarians are a race in Star Trek as well as Mass Effect... Introducing the Bajoran/Cardassian conflict. Always fun seeing Captain Picard go against Star Fleet Admirals. Stephen Klancher: September 28, 2011 Frere Jacques! I remember that part of the episode from a zillion years ago... I enjoyed seeing all of the various situations this put the crew in. Different context to see how the characters act. Stephen Klancher: September 29, 2011 They seemed to wrap up pretty quickly at the end... Didn't really thank Wesley for saving the entire ship or chastise Riker for almost causing its destruction. Stephen Klancher: October 3, 2011 I liked how that played out... really a time traveler, but still a deception. Stephen Klancher: October 6, 2011 The kid looks like Dan. At least it got mom to watch the episode. Pretty funny at some points to see the kid do the android head movements. Stephen Klancher: October 7, 2011 I like the premise of identities wiped but technical knowledge remains. Stephen Klancher: October 8, 2011 Always fun to see data play another role... and Troi and O'Brien as bad guys as well. Stephen Klancher: October 9, 2011 Picard always seems to be the only human who really understands Klingons. Stephen Klancher: October 9, 2011 As soon as they said androgynous, I thought, "Oh god, Riker will try to sleep with one, won't he?" Stephen Klancher: October 11, 2011 Love this episode... TNG's own Groundhog's Day plot. Although actually Groundhog's Day came out a year after this... Stephen Klancher: October 12, 2011 I always remembered this as the origin of Tom Paris... But apparently they are different characters played by the same actor. Stephen Klancher: October 21, 2011 Very memorable. Probably in part because it is probably my dad's favorite episode. Stephen Klancher: October 21, 2011 Bit of trivia for later: Data's head is 500 years older than his body. Stephen Klancher: October 22, 2011 I don't think they ever showed a first person view of using the transporter before this... Stephen Klancher: October 22, 2011 When I saw this as a young kid I didn't remember as much of the whole "old age sucks" angle. Also, since I hadn't really seen original trek, this bigger older Scotty was how I had originally seen him. Any episode before this that mentioned some kind of transporter problem or accident made me think, "Is this the one with Scotty?" Stephen Klancher: October 22, 2011 Any opportunity to make Riker look insane is one that must be seized. Stephen Klancher: October 23, 2011 For some reason I thought I watched this in first season... Maybe I was thinking of the Q episode with Riker? Maybe I just also watched this around the same time I watched season one. Already knowing the series finale, I really like that when Picard brought up the trial of humanity, Q mentioned that the "jury is still out" on that. Stephen Klancher: October 27, 2011 Amusing to seem them as kids. And the actors did a pretty good job of portraying their respective characters. The ease with which the Ferengi took over the ship was sillier than adults turning into kids. Stephen Klancher: October 28, 2011 Any opportunity for Brent Spiner to play multiple roles makes for a good episode. Stephen Klancher: November 4, 2011 Holodeck within a holodeck... I had forgotten that Moriarty was going to come back. Stephen Klancher: November 8, 2011 Always love Q episodes, and it was cool to see young Picard and the story where he was stabbed. Stephen Klancher: November 10, 2011 Data confirms that androids to not actually dream of electric sheep. Worf teaches the younglings to yearn for battle. Stephen Klancher: November 10, 2011 One of the most badass Picard episodes as he singlehandedly saves his ship MacGyver style. And against "Not Tuvok"! Stephen Klancher: November 11, 2011 Picard's girlfriend seems like she might have been a template used to create Captain Janeway. Stephen Klancher: November 14, 2011 A Dr Crusher episode? A Ferengi scientist? Who would have expected either? Stephen Klancher: November 17, 2011 Timeplay! I enjoyed all of the frozen misunderstandings of Romulans that looked hostile but weren't. Stephen Klancher: November 21, 2011 Alien culture looking to experience and understand pleasure, antagonism, and love... made for a pretty funny episode. Stephen Klancher: November 26, 2011 Excuse for LeVar Burton to not have to wear the visor for an episode. Stephen Klancher: November 30, 2011 Fun episode for plenty of opportunity for humor as Picard and Riker both play different roles. Stephen Klancher: December 5, 2011 Seems like they should have given some kind of rational for why those implants linked their thoughts... Stephen Klancher: December 7, 2011 Kind of a weird episode. Clearly meant as an environmental parallel, but almost no time devoted to the episode's conclusion that warp travel damages the fabric of space. Supposedly there are future references to this and the warp 5 limit imposed by Starfleet. But supposedly it is "solved" off camera by just saying newer engines in the Voyager era fixed the problem. Stephen Klancher: December 10, 2011 Easily one of my favorite episodes. Phrases like this and you know I'm sold: "The barriers between quantum realities are breaking down. Other realities are emerging into our own." Stephen Klancher: December 13, 2011 For once Michael Dorn doesn't have to wear his makeup. Also Rotti of Repoman is Worf's brother! Also I really liked the idea of a "journey" in the holodeck while they were transplanted between planets. Stephen Klancher: December 15, 2011 Not a great episode but 1. I love Scottish accents and 2. Gates played the crazy-woman role well. Stephen Klancher: December 22, 2011 Novel idea for an episode, and actually worked better than I thought it would. Especially kind of cool to have the recurring background character nurse Alyssa get a more prominent role. And also for Sito Jaxa, one of the other cadettes involved in Wesley's academy screw up, to show up again. It's actually too bad that the waiter character Ben wasn't in more episodes. Stephen Klancher: December 23, 2011 Brent Spiner is amazing when he gets the opportunity to play other personalities. Stephen Klancher: December 28, 2011 Every scifi show needs a de-evolution episode. Also why does the ship smell like Diana Troi? Stephen Klancher: December 29, 2011 Self aware Enterprise? Rename her Moya, jump through a wormhole, and let's take this series to the weirdest frontier. Stephen Klancher: December 29, 2011 Ro is a cool character and that was a pretty decent episode after a few so-so ones. Also, showcases the Maquis... Stephen Klancher: January 1, 2012 I love this episode. Q, timejumping, causal paradox... it's scifi joy. I'm pretty sure we watched this live when it aired, and then this was one of a handful of episodes we owned on VHS. Watched an episode not known by IMDb? |
