I've long had the vague plan of watching the entirety of DBZ, but that is 291 or 276(?) episodes whether I picked subbed or dubbed. The plan for this remaster/reedit is to cut filler and do it in 100 episodes. That does make it sort of tempting.

Interesting seeing Dragonball and Bardock special content integrated into the original Z episode. The animation shows its age despite the attempt to clean it up. I wonder if episodes later in the series will be higher quality.

The Raditz battle begins! I love the scene of Goku and Piccolo throwing off their weighted training clothes. Some of the music seems kind of weird, but it's probably the same as the original Japanese edit. I've probably only seen most of the early episodes in English and they changed a lot including music in those early episodes.

These episode names give so much away, but it does make it easier to look for specific episodes, and I pretty much know what's going to happen anyway. First Kamehameha of DBZ/DBK! Gohan's first evidence of being powerful, though he'll remain a brat for a long time yet. I like that Raditz preempted the "he's just a child"-motif and went to kill him. I always remember thinking the Radiz battle was fun it was quick, it teamed up Goku and Piccolo, the Makankosoppo was very cool looking, and it permanently set up Goku's level of self sacrifice. He is the quintessential pure hero.

The animation looked pretty well cleaned up in this episode, fun seeing the DBZ fight style.

It's great how in the Japanese version they actually have some level of human reaction compared to the ultra censored/edited-for-kids first English dub. Yeah they're going to wish him back, but he still died! And here you can see that it's actually painful, and his friends actually care.

Piccolo blew up the moon without a second thought! No more big ape for now.

Run away Bubbles-kun! Funny to see Goku tell a joke as if he were delivering an attack.
